The Hillcrest Behavioral Finance Award, created in 2014, seeks to annually recognize excellence in research through the selection of an original paper from academics on the subject of behavioral finance.

Hillcrest Asset Management recognizes one winning paper each year, written by an author attending and/or teaching at an accredited university.

Hillcrest Asset Management is pleased to announce  that Khaled Obaid from California State University – East Bay and Kuntara Pukthuanthong from the University of Missouri-Columbia are the winners of the 2019 Hillcrest Behavioral Finance Award for their paper “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Measuring Investor Sentiment by Combining Machine Learning and Photos from News.”
